Our Story
Beginnings
In the 1970s, South Surrey was a mix of retirement homes and hippie havens. In 1976, as more young families moved to the area, around 20 families from Surrey Alliance Church came together with other families already in the area, to start a new church focused on children, youth, and families. The group’s first service on April 4, 1976, drew 176 people. The church quickly grew and moved to Sunnyside Elementary, eventually being formally organized as “The Crescent Park Community Church” in June 1976 with Rev. David T. Anderson as pastor.
Establishing a Church Home
After only a few years, it was clear that our growing congregation needed its own space. In February of 1979, we purchased the property at 152 Street and King George Blvd. and changed our name to “Peace Portal Alliance Church.”. Our new church home was dedicated on May 31, 1981, and has served as a base for worship, community, and outreach ever since.
Ongoing Ministry Focus
Today, with an average attendance of 1,500, Peace Portal continues to thrive and expand its impact. We’ve developed the Peace Portal Counselling Centre, established homes and schools for orphaned children in Uganda and India, and created diverse programs for all ages. Our support extends globally through partnerships with international workers, and locally through specialized programs.

Statement of Faith
Peace Portal Church is a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada, which is a group of approximately 440 churches across Canada.
